I've been around art and artists my whole life. My father, also Charles, enjoyed a long career in and around Charleston. Though I was born in New Orleans, we came home to the Lowcountry before my second birthday. Some of my earliest memories are of my father's studio in Old Village of Mount Pleasant and his artist friends. When I was thirteen we moved to McClellanville, my mother's family home.
I received my artistic training at the Savannah College of Art and Design and at the College of Charleston. Early on, I painted abstract canvases but decided to tackle figurative painting beginning in 2000. My portfolio includes still life, landscapes, portraits, and narrative paintings of Biblical and historic subjects.
I have paintings in private collections all over the Lowcountry as well as several public collections in Charleston such as the Charleston School of Law, the Charleston County Courthouse, the Old Exchange Building, and St Philip’s Church.
